Jackson Center, OH, Jan. 9, 2007 – Continuing its pursuit of adventure and innovative product design, Airstream Inc. announced it has partnered with Ford Motor Company in designing a revolutionary crossover concept vehicle called the Ford Airstream.
The Ford Airstream Concept celebrates the American Journey and captures the sense of optimism and adventure conveyed in aircraft, spacecraft and the streamlined shape of Airstream travel trailers. Airstream’s iconic brand is reflected in the crossover concept’s organic, fuselage-inspired form language, unique reflective paint and 12 ceremonial rivets.
“Airstream wants to continue finding new options for tomorrow’s road trips. Our success comes from challenging the conventional thinking about what defines an Airstream. The Ford Airstream Concept is a stunning example of just that,” said Bob Wheeler, President and CEO of Airstream. “For 75 years, Airstream has been an icon synonymous with the optimism, discovery and wanderlust that’s
helped define America,” said J Mays, Ford Motor Company Group Vice President – Design and Chief Creative Officer. “It seemed only fitting for us to come together through our shared passion for the open road and to
show a vision for the future of American Transportation.”
The Ford Airstream Concept was revealed to the International Press and Automotive Industry Executives at the North American International Automotive Show in Detroit on January 7. The first public viewing will be January 13-21 at the NAIAS in Detroit and then the Chicago Auto Show, February 9-18. Additional showings will continue throughout 2007. Airstream, Inc
The first Airstreams, known for their high-quality riveted aluminum shells and state-of-the-art interiors, were built in 1931 by Wally Byam. Airstream, a subsidiary of Thor Industries Inc. An Airstream is more than just a trendy product, it’s a way of life embraced by thousands around the world for more than seven decades. Now celebrating its 76th anniversary, the company continues the legacy today with its world-class travel trailers, motor homes,
